Sensitive skincare advice

Introduction

Many people suffer from sensitive skin including dry itchy skin or dermatoses (atopic eczema, varicose eczema, psoriasis).

You may find that your young children's skin condition is difficult to manage - that's why we have developed Skin Sense, to provide top tips on how to keep your family's skin healthy and ensure their overall wellbeing.

Children rely on touch to explore their world and healthy skin plays a crucial role in their confidence and development. If a child's skin is irritated and feels sensitive and uncomfortable, they may shun touch which will impact negatively on their interaction with the environment and those around them.

Skin Sense includes tips on how to help prevent skin sensitivity and steps to minimise skin irritation, making life easier for you and your family.

What exactly is Sensitive Skin?

Sensitive skin develops when the natural skin barrier becomes damaged, allowing moisture to escape from the skin. When the moisture escapes, the skin becomes dry and arid which leaves it open to irritants.

The irritants work through the barrier and inflame the skin - leaving it tender and itchy in most cases.
